Our podcast
The Comment section
A Safe & Sound Podcast by UNMUTE TRIPLE A

Comment Section examines what happens when words become weapons.
Through conversations with survivors, psychologists, activists, artists, legal experts, journalists, technologists, and everyday internet users, the podcast investigates how digital violence shapes identities, relationships, opportunities, mental health, democracy, and freedom of expression.
The podcast belongs under Safe & Sound, UNMUTE's initiative dedicated to creating safer environments where people can speak, create, exist, and participate without fear of violence.
Comment Section is a podcast that explores the invisible violence hidden behind screens, usernames, emojis, comments, shares, and algorithms.
While online spaces promise connection, they have also become arenas where harassment, misogyny, intimidation, revenge, misinformation, and digital abuse thrive.
For women and girls especially, violence no longer stops at physical spaces. It follows them into their phones, inboxes, workplaces, homes, and even their sleep.
Our Festival
SAFE & SOUND FESTIVAL
Sound. Visibility. Agency.

Safe & Sound is a multidisciplinary arts festival celebrating women artists and marginalized voices while creating a space where music, visual arts, storytelling, and community action meet.
The festival explores how sound can become a tool for expression, resistance, healing, joy, and social transformation.
It brings together artists working across electronic music, traditional music, experimental performance, visual arts, poetry, film, and digital culture.
Rather than framing women and minorities solely through vulnerability, Safe & Sound positions them as creators of culture, innovators, leaders, and architects of new futures.
Festival Vision
To create East Africa's leading platform for women and underrepresented artists, where artistic excellence and social impact reinforce one another.
Festival Theme
"Making Space"
— A space to be heard.
— A space to create.
— A space to celebrate.
— A space to imagine different futures.
Our Campaigns
NATIONAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
"Respect Starts With Me"
"Safe and Sound Rwanda"

— A National Conversation on Consent, Respect and Safe Communities
— Building a culture of respect through dialogue, art and community action.
CAMPAIGN VISION
To create a Rwanda where young people, families and communities understand consent, respect boundaries, challenge harmful norms, and actively contribute to preventing violence and abuse.
CAMPAIGN OBJECTIVES
Awareness
Increase understanding of:
- Consent
- Respect
- Healthy relationships
- Digital citizenship
- Online violence
- Gender-based violence
- Positive masculinity
- Community responsibility
Dialogue
Create safe spaces for communities to discuss difficult issues openly.
Youth Leadership
Equip young leaders to become ambassadors of respect and prevention.
Community Mobilization
Engage local government, artists, media, schools and civil society in sustained action.
The Big Idea
The campaign should not feel like people are being lectured about violence.
It should feel like Rwanda is having a nationwide conversation about what kind of society it wants to become.
UNMUTE's role then becomes not simply raising awareness, but creating a living platform where art, media, youth leadership, and community dialogue work together to build a culture of respect.
